He maintained that the meeting was designed to create awareness and enlighten the people of the state on maternal, newborn and child health.

He also appealed to the people of the state to continue supporting the government in its efforts to tackle the prevalence of maternal and child death in the state.

“Government is working round the clock to provide sound health system to the people of Gombe State, but the government alone cannot achieve it without your support,” he said.

Gana commended the effort and support of traditional rulers, particularly emirs, village and ward heads rendered to the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency and its programmes, urging for more support.

Speaking on the importance of the maternal newborn and child health in Islam and Christianity, two clerics highlighted the utmost importance of pregnant women and child health in the society, stressing that both religions respected the health of pregnant women and child health.

They urged communities to support the programmes because of its benefits to the society in general.

Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers, Emir of Dukku, Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir Rashid, commended the state’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency for its effort to ensure the people of Gombe State access quality health care.

The emir equally commended the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for its support and contributions to the people of Gombe State while calling on all traditional rulers to ensure that the message they received in the meeting is taken down to their various communities.
