Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow have been dealt a setback following reports that sprinters Tima Godbless and Ella Onojuvwevwo have withdrawn from the country’s athletics contingent, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to Ohis Asein, a reliable source and Personal Assistant to the President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), both athletes have pulled out of Team Nigeria ahead of the Games.Sports
The reported withdrawals are understood to be the reason Rosemary Nwankwo was recently called up to replace one of the athletes in the Nigerian squad.

Despite the reports, the AFN has yet to issue an official statement confirming the withdrawals or providing reasons for the athletes’ absence.
With the Commonwealth Games fast approaching, there is growing belief within athletics circles that Godbless and Onojuvwevwo will not be part of Nigeria’s delegation to Glasgow.
An official announcement from the AFN is expected to provide further clarity on the situation.
