Nigerian athlete, Tima Godbless stormed to a Personal Best (PB) and National Junior Record (NJR) of 11.08s (0.1), to win the fourth heat of the Women’s 100m event at the U-20 World Athletics Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Godbless broke the NJR set by Joan Uduak Ekah which had stood for 23 years by two-hundredths of a second, and was the fastest qualifier across all seven (7) heats of the Women’s 100m.
It was a very fast time from Godbless, which now sees her as a major medal contender.
Her teammate, Praise Oforku also qualified for the semifinals from the preceding heat, running 11.55s to finish 2nd behind South Africa’s Viwe Jingqi in 11.36s.
