From Oluseye Ojo, Ibadan
Chairman of Oyo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, General Kunle Togun (retd), has advised Nigerians to learn self-defence and legally equip themselves against foreign terrorists that have found their ways to the country.
In an interview with Saturday Sun, the retired director of Military Intelligence (DMI), noted that, “security is everybody’s business. I delivered a lecture in the University of Ibadan sometime ago, and after the lecture, a lady asked, how she could defend herself. I asked, ‘if her mommy had a knife in the kitchen that she used to peel yam?’ She said, ‘yes.’ Then, I said, ‘Go and learn how to defend yourself with it.’
“So, everybody should learn how to defend himself or herself. The parents should teach their children escape routes in case of an emergency. Tell your children, if there is fire in this house, find your way to that tree and sit down. In your house, there must be a place you will tell your family to stay in case of emergency. Safety should be prioritised. Every family should start designing – in case of this, do this. In case your house is attacked, there must be an escape route.
“I will tell everybody, there are dane guns and there is no rule against dane guns. There are cutlasses. And there are the supernatural defence means. We should imbibe them. Various communities have hunters with such supernatural defensive means. They inherited these supernatural means of defence.
