Geregu Power Plc has pledged its support for President Bola Tinubu’s power sector reforms, saying it will continue to work towards improving electricity generation and supply in Nigeria.

The company’s Chairman, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, made the commitment while assuring shareholders, bondholders and other stakeholders that Geregu Power would honour its outstanding bond obligations.

Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, said the company’s board was determined to complement the Federal Government’s efforts to transform the power sector and provide more reliable electricity to Nigerians.

In a statement signed on his behalf by Engr. MD Aliyu, Yari said stakeholders in the power sector must support efforts to improve electricity generation and supply.

“As a stakeholder and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I deem it incumbent on us all to do everything humanly possible for the Renewed Hope Agenda to succeed,” he said.

He commended Tinubu for the support given to the power sector, assuring that Geregu Power would continue to back initiatives aimed at increasing the country’s electricity generation capacity.

Yari also assured bondholders, trustees, shareholders and other stakeholders that the company would resolve its outstanding obligations. He said the board was engaging the former management and board of Geregu Power over outstanding legacy issues.

“We continue to engage the former Management and Board of Geregu Power Plc regarding outstanding legacy matters.

“I want to assure all stakeholders that this obligation will be resolved, and we are taking all necessary steps to protect the interests of our shareholders and bondholders,” he said.

Yari added that the board remained committed to protecting shareholder value and maintaining high standards of corporate responsibility.

The company also assured the public and other stakeholders of its continued commitment to sustaining and improving electricity generation for the benefit of Nigerians.
