The Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa (PAACA) has confirmed that former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga-Hashim, will feature as a guest speaker at its forthcoming National Conference on the Future of Democracy in Nigeria.

The conference, themed “Sustaining Democratic Growth Beyond the Polls for Effective Governance,” will hold on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, at the NILDS Conference Hall, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Abuja.

According to a letter signed by PAACA’s Executive Director, Ezenwa Nwagwu, the conference aims to stimulate national dialogue on democratic consolidation and institutional reforms that promote credible governance beyond election cycles.

Gbenga-Hashim is billed to speak on the topic, “The Future of Democracy in Nigeria: Building Institutions that Outlast Elections,” a session expected to highlight pathways for strengthening the rule of law, transparency, and citizen participation.

PAACA described his contribution as “invaluable” to enriching the discussion and inspiring actionable reforms that would deepen Nigeria’s democratic process and governance culture.

Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has since returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and declared that the party is poised for a comeback in 2027.

He had in July engaged with the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s Wadata Plaza headquarters in Abuja, where he stated that despite past challenges, internal divisions, and defections, the PDP remains the only truly national party with the capacity to rescue Nigeria in 2027.
