A frontline security expert and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Jackson Lekan-Ojo Ojo has hailed the choice of Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as one of the very few Nigerians the president can depend on to succeed in governing the country.
Lekan-Ojo who made the remark while receiving his associates and well-wishers during a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his award as the Distinguished Security Personality of the Year 2022/2023.
The International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS) had honoured the frontline security expert as the Distinguished Security Personality of the year 2022/2022 during its International Security Conference and Awards (ISCA 2023) held on August 19, 2023.
The Port Harcourt Rivers-based security expert, in an exclusive interview with Daily Sun, described the reports of alleged rift between the President and the Chief of Staff as the handiwork of enemies of the country, who see the person of Femi Gbajabiamila as a major threat to their selfish ambitions.
According to the APC chieftain, “reports in the last few days have claimed that there was a problem between the president and the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila over the list of the people for board appointments and other parastatal issues. The report claimed that the president had given the duty of drafting another list to James Faleke. I know that there are a lot of persons that now see Gbajabiamila as a threat because he is not a person that can easily be manipulated or compromised. So when you see upright and experienced person like Gbajabiamila definitely a lot of persons will not be comfortable with him.
” Nigerians must know that one of the very few individuals that are qualified to occupy that position today without misleading the President is Hon. Gbajabiamila. Gbajabiamila has been with the President for a very long time. And over the years he has been able to prove to the world that he is trustworthy and dependable. He understands the President’s body language and actions very well . He is indeed a person that the president can really trust. Besides, Gbajabiamila has the international exposure and requisite experience to succeed as the Chief of Staff to the President. He has demonstrated this time and time again through his interventions during strikes by labour unions in the past. This goes to show that Hon Gbajabiamila is the best person to occupy that position now.
“However, it is a well known fact that selfish and mischievous people who see him as a threat and therefore will be looking for every means to get him out of the way.
My appeal to Nigerians is to discountenance such plot and rumours against individuals like Gbajabiamila. Of course more of it will still come because mischievous people are always relentless in their game to pull the upright down.” He admonished
