If you could take the pains to study Julius Rone, the Chief Executive Officer of UTM Offshore Limited, like a book, you would be totally engrossed in the riveting tales of his successful rise to fame. From a very modest beginning as a Protocol Officer at OMPADEC between 1995 and 2000 and then a Protocol Assistant to a former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, between 2000 and 2008, Rone has done so well to rise to become an oil and gas industry giant. Through his company, UTM Offshore Limited, the Delta State-born tycoon has succeeded in writing his name in gold. Even now, his portrait is hung conspicuously in the Hall of Fame of gas giants in Africa. His passion has also fetched him recognition in and outside the shores of the country on account of his being the brain behind the first Floating Liquified Natural Gas (FLNG) in the continent. But Rone is not all about cutting deals in the energy industry. The amiable businessman is also considered a social butterfly because of his charismatic, talented and good looking nature. He is renowned for hosting well-organised lavish parties and gracing many others as their guest. But it is doubtful if any, so far, has gained his attention as the planning of his coming 50th birthday celebration on Tuesday, 25 June.
At 50, Rone has achieved what would take an ordinary mortal a century or more to gain. Thus as a perfectionist, Rone is leaving no stone unturned to make his golden celebration the most memorable for all his invited guests. On the eve of his birthday, there will be a Special Praise Service at the RCCG Holy Ghost Parish in Wuse, FCT. The lavish bash follows on the main day. Invites have already been sent out while notable event planners and vendors who have made a successful pitch towards the success of the golden birthday shindig can’t wait for the day to break.
