Immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has officially assumed duty as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, inaugurated him and other members of the board in Abuja, yesterday.
The inauguration, held at the Ministry’s auditorium, marked a significant step in the federal government’s renewed efforts to reposition the aviation sector under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Ganduje expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to lead the FAAN board with a focus on transparency, innovation, and impactful governance.
“This is a national assignment I take seriously. We will collaborate closely with all stakeholders to ensure that Nigeria’s airports meet global standards and reflect the image of a country on the rise,” he promised.
Ganduje will work alongside Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director/CEO, who was named Vice-Chair of the board. Mrs. Bridget Gold, Director of Legal Services at FAAN, was appointed as Secretary.
Other members of the newly constituted board include Mrs. Dorothy Duruaka, Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Creative Economy, Ahmed Ibrahim Sulaiman, Ministry of Defence, Engr. Nasiru Muazu, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology.
Others are Dr. Omozojie Okoboh, Ministry of Justice and Engr. Peter Vembe, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development
Earlier, the Aviation Minister charged the new board with upholding four key pillars: safety and security, sustainable development, enhanced passenger experience, and strategic collaboration.
He described the inauguration as “a solemn call to national duty”, urging the board to drive reforms that would position Nigeria as a leading aviation hub in Africa.
