The Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Abbas, has said the party is ready to receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the party ahead of his anticipated defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abbas noted that the move is aimed at promoting unity and reconciliation in Kano State.

“This is about unity, reconciliation and moving Kano State forward,” he said.

Abbas, speaking on behalf of the party’s national leader and former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the APC was prepared to formally welcome Yusuf and other NNPP members, including lawmakers, state executive council members, local government chairmen, councillors and political appointees.

He added that the planned reception would be conducted “in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collective responsibility.”

The APC chairman said the decision followed resolutions reached at a recent stakeholders’ meeting, where the party reaffirmed its openness to Nigerians willing to work toward good governance and development.

Abbas assured that Yusuf would be accorded due respect as a sitting governor and supported to strengthen the party in the state.

He expressed confidence that the development would enhance political stability in Kano State and boost the APC’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
