… Galatasaray to monitor striker at 2025 AFCON

Victor Osimhen

Galatasaray is being proactive regarding Victor Osimhen’s situation and intends to monitor his progress closely during the upcoming 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Osimhen has been named in Nigeria’s preliminary squad for the tournament, which is a positive indication of his health.

Despite previous injuries during his last two international outings, there is optimism surrounding Osimhen’s ability to participate in the upcoming matches against Monaco and Antalyaspor. Thanks to FIFA’s policy, players competing in the African Cup can remain with their clubs until December 15. This allows Osimhen the opportunity to contribute to Galatasaray’s crucial fixtures on December 9 and December 13 before joining the Nigerian National Team’s training camp, which begins on December 12.

However, his participation in the match against Kasımpaşa in the final week of the first half appears unlikely, as joining the national camp will occur the day after the Antalyaspor match. Furthermore, the upcoming Super Cup match against Trabzonspor on January 5 raises additional questions about his availability.

With the third-place match of the African Cup on January 17 and the final on January 18, there is a potential for Osimhen to miss both the Super Cup and possibly the start of the league season, depending on the outcomes of the tournament. As such, Galatasaray is diligently monitoring Osimhen’s situation, prioritizing his health as they navigate the demands of his busy national team schedule while managing the risk of injury.
