Galatasaray have confirmed that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen suffered a fractured right arm during their UEFA Champions League defeat to Liverpool FC on Wednesday night.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Turkish club said Osimhen sustained a fracture to his right forearm, which has been placed in a cast.
The club added that a decision on whether the striker will require surgery will be made after further medical examinations in the coming days.
“The decision regarding surgery will be made in the coming days after further examinations,” the Turkish club added.
The injury is a major setback for Galatasaray, with Osimhen having been in strong form, scoring seven goals in this season’s Champions League campaign.

The club did not specify the length of time their star player will be sidelined.
Galatasaray were dealt another injury blow in the same match, with Dutch international Noa Lang set to undergo surgery after suffering a serious thumb injury.
Lang, who replaced Osimhen at halftime, was stretchered off late in the game after cutting his right thumb on an advertising board near the goal line.
“He suffered a serious cut to his right thumb and is due to undergo surgery in Liverpool in the coming hours,” the club added.
The injuries capped a difficult night for Galatasaray, who were beaten 4-0 at Anfield by Liverpool, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate defeat and elimination from the competition.
Liverpool’s dominant victory sees them advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain FC.
