After investing €75 million in Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian forward is on track for his return from injury for Galatasaray in the Champions League match against Liverpool.
His absence was keenly felt during the game in Frankfurt, as Barış Alper Yılmaz and Mauro Icardi struggled to perform effectively up front.
Osimhen injured his ankle ligaments while playing for Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
He was not taken to Germany for the match because his pain persisted. The Yellow-Reds’ medical team and coaching staff have set September 30th as their target for his return. He is expected to participate in the team’s first home match of the Champions League.
The experienced striker will not be risked in today’s match against Konyaspor but is scheduled to begin training with the team on Wednesday.
Osimhen, who chose to stay at Galatasaray due to the Champions League factor, was deeply disappointed by the defeat to Frankfurt but remains motivated for the Liverpool match at RAMS Park. He previously missed matches against Eyüpspor and Eintracht Frankfurt due to his injury.
