Gafar commends progress at Youth Games

The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafar, has shared his thoughts on the ongoing 7th National Youth Games, expressing satisfaction with the event’s organisation and the impressive performances of young athletes.

Gafar noted, “Everything is going properly; the results have started coming in, and I’m very proud of what the boys and the girls have been doing so far.

“There is working progress, and we thank the Lagos state government for always supporting us, always being there for us.”

He emphasised the positive impact of the Lagos state government’s unwavering support, highlighting the significant role it has played in the event’s development. “We’ve been showing redevelopment, and we’ve been showing progress.

“Yesterday, we saw what happened at swimming, and the day before at weightlifting. It was very nice.”

“We are very thankful for how the Lagos state government has contributed immensely to the growth that we have today,” Gafar added.

The Director General emphasised that the success of sports is a collective effort, involving various stakeholders. He acknowledged the vital roles played by corporate bodies, parents, teachers, and all individuals in nurturing and developing young talents. “Nobody is an island with sports.

“We are all very joyful, and now announcing that victory in the cabinet yesterday also for the children to do more because we know the responsive father is the one that has been meeting us at the point of our needs for development,” Gafar remarked.
