FUTO VC vows to implement blueprint, pledges stronger media partnership

The 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO), Professor Ikechukwu Dozie, has vowed to implement his administration’s blueprint aimed at consolidating on the achievements of his predecessors.

Dozie gave the assurance, on Monday, when he played host to members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council, at the university.

Presenting copies of the blueprint to the journalists, the VC, who assumed office in June, said his administration would work tirelessly to move the institution forward. He disclosed that since assumption of office, he had begun wide consultations with key stakeholders. 

“We have engaged with the staff unions, the Parents’ Management Forum, the Students’ Union Government, and the host communities to familiarise with them,” Dozie said.

Describing members of the Correspondents’ Chapel as “important stakeholders and partners in progress,” he called for a cordial working relationship similar to the one he enjoyed with the media while at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University.

“For me as the VC, I thank God for this position. My vision is to lead from the front. In the next five years, we intend to add to what our predecessors have done,” he added.

Dozie further pledged to deepen the existing relationship between the university management and the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ in Imo State, noting that the media remains critical to projecting the university’s growth and achievements.

Chairman of the Correspondence Chapel, Chinazo Ikechukwu, while reiterating the long existing relationship between the chapel and the institution said the same would be extended to his administration.
