After endless debates, negotiations, renegotiations, a longstanding fight between former British heavyweights champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has finally been resolved.
A press release from Ring Magazine was issued early this morning announcing the opening press conference set for September 30 to formally announce the fight, which has been officially scheduled for December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The fight will stream live, exclusively on Netflix.
Score this one a big win for Big Ed (Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn) who stood on business and pressed long and hard for the fight to take place in the United Kingdom after others including Dana White and Nick Khan pushed for the bout to take place in New York City.
There will be plenty of gloating and needling to come between the power brokers of the sport, but for the fans, we now have the names, dates, venue, and network set in place. We’ll provide more information as it becomes available, but for now, just take a sigh of relief.
