With the avalanche of comedy shows in Nigeria, Funbi’s Bus: Private Trip (a comedy special) the sixth edition of this remarkable event, decided to stand out with innovative storytelling and sharp-witted humour.

The event which held at Landmark Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos on September 29th 2024 had the audience in for a ride that engaged their ribs and lightened their hearts.

Unlike previous editions that were a blend of comedy and music, this special rollout was strictly about Funbi Funbi’s dexterity.

What also caught the attention of many were the upcoming talents who opened and brought their own spice to the show, seasoning the night with originality and youthfulness before the host’s appearance.

Funbi Funbi’s set was a mixture of personal and topical reflections of the everyday Nigerian. His words visualised the hurdles of daily living in Lagos to traffic jams to economic woes in comparison with the world. The comic star cut through the frustration of the society and stitched every line in relief.

His jokes were not just funny; they drove their points with the wisdom of a talented performer, with just enough mischief for the comic charm.

Funbi Funbi remains, unavoidably, a keen comic mind, both structurally and instinctively. Like a farmer promising a bountiful harvest, Funbi Funbi delivered jokes that blossomed into uncontrollable laughter. In a country where “wahala no dey finish,” this event became a sanctuary, a place where burdens were dropped and replaced with belly-aching giggles. As the Yoruba say, erin l’ogun aiye, laughter is the medicine of life, and it was served it in premium doses.

The ambience at Landmark Towers added to the unforgettable night. With lights, sound, and an audience ready to laugh away their stress, the hall felt like a communal fire where everyone charged to warm their spirits. By the end, attendees left lighter, happier, and reminded that even in hard times, laughter is a form of therapy.

As the popular saying goes, when the mouth laughs, the heart forgets its troubles. FUNBI’S BUS Comedy Special Edition was more than a comedy show; it was a companion leading through a restorative escape, and a reminder that laughter is a seed one consciously sows, not just for entertainment but for survival.
