Africa will have a record ten participating countries at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after DR Congo qualified.

The Leopards won the final African slot by overcoming Nigeria in the African play-offs and then defeated Jamaica 1-0 in the intercontinental play-offs on Tuesday night.

They join nine other countries that have already secured their spots in the expanded competition.

The Super Eagles, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the second edition in a row.

It will be the first time Africa sends 10 teams to the World Cup, underlining the continent’s growing influence in global football.
