“On behalf of the Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), I wish to felicitate with the staff and students on the occasions of Christmas and New Year.”
This message was contained in a press statement signed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Shehu Abdul Rahman, sent to Daily Sun on Sunday.
He added that In spite of all the individual and collective challenges they had faced in the year 2022, he thanked the Almighty God for His grace and mercies and for sparing their lives to witness these special occasions.
“I thank God, especially, for giving our University the kinds of human resources it needs to achieve greatness. I commend our staff and students for playing crucial roles in the processes of developments witnessed this year in our University.”
The VC used the opportunity to thank everyone for their individual sacrifice and contribution while urging all to use this occasion to pray for each other’s good health so that they would together, make the University a reputable institution of learning.
“As we celebrate these two important events of Christmas and New Year, we should not forget to thank the Almighty God for blessings He has bestowed on us and imbibe the spirits of tolerance, love and peace as exemplified by Jesus Christ.”
Adding that although the challenges of insecurity and economic difficulties bedevilling the country and its people seem overwhelming, it is comforting to note that “we are now in a blessed period and, therefore, we should recommit ourselves to prayer for God to heal our national problems”.
“Thus, I call on the staff and students to pray for peace, security and economic development in Nigeria and the progress of FULafia in the years ahead.”
