A Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress( APC), Princewill Dike, has described the decision of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to reunite with the political family led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a defining moment capable of consolidating peace, political stability and sustainable development in Rivers State.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Dike said “the governor’s decision has brought an end to months of political tension and uncertainty”.
He added that “dialogue, reconciliation and unity remain the most effective instruments for building a peaceful and progressive society.”
According to the FCT Minister’s ally, “Governor Fubara has demonstrated courage and political maturity by placing the collective interest of Rivers people above every other consideration, rather than continuing on the self-destructive path.”
The statement maintained that the renewed understanding between Governor Fubara and predecessor has restored confidence among political stakeholders and created a conducive atmosphere for governance, investment and economic growth.
“The people of Rivers State have always desired peace over conflict, unity over division and development over unnecessary political distractions. The governor’s decision has responded to that collective aspiration,” Dike stated.
The legal practitioner further commended Governor Fubara for publicly identifying with President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described the declaration as a bold demonstration of political clarity and commitment to national and state development.
Dike also welcomed the governor’s endorsement of the Rainbow Coalition’s governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, saying the endorsement has further strengthened the coalition and positioned it for greater electoral success, “and with that, the APC has no singular opposition to contend with in the state.”
Quoting the governor’s commitment to peace, he noted that Fubara’s declaration that he would not participate in any action capable of causing disunity again in Rivers State should reassure residents and investors that the prevailing atmosphere of stability would be sustained.
The statement also praised Governor Fubara’s commitment to industrialisation through the proposed RIVEN Medical Industries Project at Rumuosi, describing the initiative as a strategic investment capable of creating employment opportunities, boosting local production and expanding the state’s economy.
Dike said the governor’s insistence that only credible investors with proven financial and technical capacity would be engaged demonstrates transparency, accountability and a determination to protect Rivers State from failed projects and needless litigation.
He continued that the governor had expressed optimism that the renewed political harmony would continue to attract more stakeholders across the state, saying those who are yet to identify with the reconciliation process would eventually embrace the prevailing reality.
“As the momentum for peace continues to grow, the remaining few are expected to join the moving train because no one prefers a snake when a fish is already served; the FCT Minister has an excellent forgiven spirit. He will forgive and forget the past offences against him. That is Wike for you.”
The legal practitioner-turned-politician, therefore, urged political leaders, supporters and other stakeholders to close ranks, shun divisive tendencies and support every genuine effort aimed at consolidating the peace currently being enjoyed across the state, insisting that political differences should never be allowed to undermine the collective interest of Rivers people.
It would be recalled that Governor Fubara, while performing the foundation-laying ceremony of the RIVEN Medical Industries Project at Rumuosi along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, declared his support for President Tinubu, the Rainbow Coalition and its candidates, including the coalition’s Rivers State governorship candidate, Chinda, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The governor also pledged not to be part of any action capable of causing disunity in the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to peace, industrialization and sustainable economic development.
