Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to forward his list of commissioners to the State House of Assembly this week, following a truce brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu between Fubara and his estranged political mentor and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

The President hosted the Governor Fubara, the FCT Minister, the House Speaker, and several Rivers elders at the Presidential Villa on Sunday night in a bid to resolve the political deadlock that has stalled governance in the state.

A source said Fubara was given three options to avoid impeachment threats, the source added that Governor Fubara followed Wike to his Abuja residence afterward, where he apologised.

“The President was direct with  Fubara. He was not pleased with how Fubara had been handling matters,” the source added, noting that Fubara was also cautioned against moves to remove him from office.

The source said Governor Fubara is now expected to implement the agreements brokered by Tinubu and move ahead with presenting the commissioners list for approval.
