The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, has commenced a three-day special intervention patrol, code-named “Operation Whirlwind”, to curb traffic offences and reduce road crashes along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor.
The operation, which commenced on Tuesday, September 15, will run until September 17, 2026, with daily patrols beginning at 6am along the Abuja-Kaduna and Kaduna-Abuja corridors.
Route Commander, STOF PE, Usman Garba, in a statement on behalf of the Kaduna State Command said, the operation aimed at addressing critical traffic offences that contribute significantly to road traffic crashes and loss of life.
To him, the enforcement would focus particularly on speeding, overloading and route violations, among other road traffic offences.
The operation, he said, would involve personnel from the FRSC Kaduna Sector Command, Kakau Unit Command, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army.
“During the operation, there will be strict enforcement of traffic regulations.
“A mobile court would also be deployed to facilitate the prompt prosecution of offenders in accordance with extant laws,” he said.
The Command advised motorists plying the Abuja-Kaduna and Kaduna-Abuja corridors to adhere to traffic rules and regulations strictly.
He added that the Sector Commander, Andrew Paul Longkam specifically urged motorists to “avoid speeding and overloading, and ensure compliance with designated routes.”
The command also called on motorists to cooperate with enforcement personnel and drive responsibly, stressing that “the ultimate objective of the operation is to prevent road traffic crashes, save lives and ensure safer road transportation along the corridor.”
The Corps, however, reiterated its commitment to maintaining safer roads through sustained enforcement, public enlightenment and collaboration with relevant security and traffic management agencies.
