Talented singer and songwriter, Oreofero Oyindamola Collins aka Frescool, is fast becoming a compelling voice in Afrobeats, a genre rooted in emotion, rhythm and cultural resonance.
Blessed with a gift for blending heartfelt expression with melodic groove, Frescool has carved a path defined by persistence, creativity, and a sound that stands out in today’s crowded music scene.
Frescool’s journey began long before the spotlight found him. Prior to gaining mainstream attention, he built an organic following on Instagram where his freestyle videos and song covers captivated audiences, revealing a raw vocal talent waiting to be discovered. That early exposure laid the foundation for what would soon become a breakthrough moment.
In 2019, Frescool made his first major mark with Surulere, a single featuring Oxlade. It’s a soulful track that showcased both his vocal richness and his ability to infuse emotion into melody. The song’s success opened new doors, but it was his victory in the Lagos Anthem Cover Challenge in 2021, hosted by Zlatan Ibile, that turned industry attention towards him. Winning the challenge earned him a feature on the official remix and solidified his presence as an artist worth watching.
From there, Frescool signed with Cash Nation Entertainment led by the late Khasy Godson, whose belief in his talent helped shape the early stage of his journey. Though promising, this phase of his career would soon be tested by loss and transition.
In May 2022, Frescool was recognised by The NATIVE magazine, appearing on its ‘uNder: Best New Artists’ list – an influential editorial spotlight that reaffirmed his rising status in Nigerian music.
Following the passing of his label boss, Frescool stepped into a new chapter – one defined by independence, resilience and artistic growth. Striking out on his own, he released a string of singles including Cover Me, Magical, Alone, and Neverlack. Each release carried the essence of his evolving sound – a fusion of melodic soul, vulnerable storytelling, and modern Afrobeats rhythms.
In 2024, Frescool hit a career milestone with Take Control, a collaboration with Melivito that grossed four million streams on Spotify, marking his most successful record yet. The song’s performance signaled not only commercial appeal, but also the strength of his grassroots support and the credibility of his independent journey.
Now, Frescool is gearing up for the next defining moment of his career: the release of his debut EP, a project eagerly anticipated by fans and supporters who have followed his growth from freestyle videos to streaming success.
