Free AI training equips Lagos youths for future

A Lagos-based technology company, MyCard Tech Solutions Limited, in partnership with RCCG The Faith City, is set to empower young Nigerians with practical artificial intelligence skills through a free training programme aimed at preparing them for opportunities in the global digital economy.

The initiative, titled “NEXTGEN AI: Unlocking the Future,” is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at RCCG The Faith City, located at 5 Adeniji Street, off College Road, Ogba, Lagos.

According to the organisers, the programme is designed to bridge the growing digital divide by equipping youths with relevant technological skills needed to compete and thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world.

They noted that the rapid advancement of automation and intelligent systems has created an urgent need for capacity building among young people, stressing that Nigeria must invest in developing a digitally skilled workforce to remain globally competitive.

Unlike conventional seminars, the organisers said the training will be highly practical and interactive. Participants are required to come with their laptops to enable them take part in hands-on sessions covering the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, the use of AI-powered tools, and strategies for accessing remote work opportunities and building technology-driven businesses.

While attendance is free, registration is compulsory as available spaces are limited. Light refreshments will also be provided for participants.

The event will feature a panel of industry professionals, including Ayodeji Olotu, Adebayo Ibraheem, Olabode Matthew and Kayode Akinwale, who will share their experiences and provide mentorship to attendees.

Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, the Founder and Product Architect of MyCard Tech Solutions Limited, Kayode Akinwale, described the programme as part of the company’s commitment to social impact and youth development.

“Innovation is not just about building great products; it is about building the people who will shape the future,” Akinwale said.

He added that his years in the technology sector had revealed the enormous potential of Nigerian youths and the need to expose them to emerging technologies.

According to him, empowering young people with practical AI knowledge today will position them to take advantage of future opportunities and become key players in the global technology ecosystem.

The organisers expressed optimism that the programme would inspire participants to embrace innovation and become active contributors to the digital economy.
