Four children, 11 adults rescued from Lagos building collapse

Oyingbo building collapse in Lagos

Fifteen individuals, including four children and 11 adults, have been rescued from a two-storey building that collapsed in Oyingbo area of Lagos State in the wee hours of Monday.

The Controller General, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a statement sent to Daily Sun.

Adeseye disclosed that around 12:20 am, the service received a distress call about a building collapse at 54, Cole street, Cemetery bus stop, by UBA bank, Oyingbo.

She said the Sari Iganmu Fire Station of the service arrived at the scene nine minutes later.

According to the CG, the affected building had been marked as distressed before it eventually collapsed but the occupants failed to vacate.

Adeseye said 15 individuals, comprising seven male adults, four female adults and four children, have been rescued with varying degrees of injury and taken to Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta and General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island for medical attention.
