Blossomflow Empowerment Foundation has called for a change in the Nigerian aviation sector after discovering a lack of sanitary pads on a local flight.
The organisation said in an era where menstrual health and dignity are central to women’s rights, it is necessary for airlines to stock pads on all domestic routes.
The Foundation is championing a critical shift in Nigerian aviation, ensuring sanitary pads are available on all domestic flights.
Founder, Joan Faluyi, said menstrual needs should not be treated as an afterthought.
“Every woman deserves to travel with peace of mind,” she said, adding that the step was crucial for promoting menstrual equity across Nigeria.
“The implementation of sanitary pads on flights is a small, yet significant step towards fostering inclusivity, support and confidence for female travellers.
“Blossomflow’s mission, which focuses on combating periodic poverty, extends beyond ground-level campaigns to shaping systems that support women in all environments, including the skies.
“With similar movements gaining traction globally, the call for pads on flights is timely and Nigerian airlines have the opportunity to lead by example.
“This is not just a call for convenience but for dignity, for ensuring all women, regardless of where they are, can manage their periods safely and with ease.
“Blossomflow hopes this campaign will not only raise awareness but lead to policy changes that promote inclusivity and menstrual health.
“As we look to a more equitable future, the conversation around menstrual products on airplanes is just one of many ways Nigeria can take a step toward supporting its female population.
“Let us make sure the skies are a place where every woman can fly with confidence,” she said.
