In a bid to help Nigerian students overcome financial barriers, the Care Wave Foundation has launched its ‘Care Wave ARISE’ scholarship and mentorship programme for tertiary education.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the Abuja-based foundation.
According to the statement, the scholarship is part of Care Wave’s broader commitment to transforming lives through education, healthcare, economic empowerment and social support.
Under the programme, successful applicants will receive support covering tuition, books, accommodation and stipends, while being required to maintain good academic standing throughout their studies.
The application process, the statement revealed, would include an eligibility assessment, document submission and review by a scholarship committee. It added that shortlisted applicants might be invited for interviews before final selections were made.
The programme, whose application deadline has been fixed for November 9, 2026, is designed to promote academic commitment, personal development and responsible leadership, towards reflecting the foundation’s belief that educational support should go beyond financial assistance.
“Care Wave Foundation believes that education should not be a privilege that disappears when a family can no longer afford it,” the statement read in part.
The foundation said it was also preparing to activate a mentorship programme that would connect young people with professionals and volunteers willing to share knowledge, experience and guidance on education, career development and personal growth.
“A scholarship can open a door. Mentorship can help a young person understand what to do after walking through it,” the statement added.
Care Wave said the mentorship programme would promote empowerment rather than dependency by helping young people build the knowledge, confidence and relationships needed to make informed decisions about their futures.
The foundation, a registered non-profit organisation based in Abuja, said its work covers education, healthcare and wellbeing, care for elderly, economic empowerment, social support, and basic needs such as food and water security.
It called on individuals, educators, professionals, organisations, businesses, donors and volunteers to partner with it in expanding access to opportunities for young Nigerians.
