A foundation, The Give Us Our Daily Bread foundation known for eradicating hunger has provided financial assistance to widows as it kicks off the ‘Feed the widows project’.
The foundation, which aims to alleviate poverty and hunger, has empowered these widows with the finances they need to live a better life.
“We believe that everyone deserves to have enough to eat and live a good life ,” said Kole Akintujoye Founder of the foundation. “But we know that some people are in more need than others. That’s why we decided to focus our efforts on helping widows, who often face financial hardships after losing their husbands.”
The foundation’s assistance has been a lifeline for many of the widows, who have been able to pay their bills and put food on the table thanks to the financial aid they have received.
Bose Onaderu, a widow who lost her husband in 2017 recounted the challenges she had to endure after her husband passed on.
” My name is Mrs Abosede Onaderu.I am a mother of four and I lost my husband on the 3rd of May 2017 after a very long illness of almost four years. heard about the “Give us our Daily Bread” Foundation on Facebook and decided to try it out. I appreciate what the foundation”.
Narrating the challenges she encountered after her husband ‘s demise, Onaderu said:”The challenges I had were much than I thought of. Two of my children were to go to the University. Sadly, as at the time of their father’s death there was no money available.We has sold properties to raise money for his medical bills. When he passed on, I was inconsolable for close to six months”.
She added that things changed for the better when she joined the Give Us Our Daily Bread Foundation.
“When I joined Give us our Daily Bread I was given a thousand daily. The money catered for our daily feeding, but I still didn’t have funds to continue my business.The ‘Feed the widows’ project began last week and I was surprised when I got fifty thousand naira from the foundation. I had to go the market and bought some goods. My business is back up again. I and my family appreciate the foundation. May they get help when they need it”.
In the same vein, another widow, Folakemi Alo also recounted the hardships she experienced due to ill health and the demise of her husband.
“I will be 61 years old by June. I am educated. I have an NCE degree but retired about five years ago because of ill health. I have three children. I lost my husband 4 years ago.I got to know about the foundation on Facebook. After my retirement, I started borrowing from different micro finance banks to make ends meets”.
Alo noted that the fifty thousand given to her by the foundation, will be used to stock her shop.
“I intend to make sure I stock my shop with the fifty thousand by the grace of God”.
Commending the foundation, Alo said:” The foundation has eased my pains and that of others.Now, having food to eat is a big relief.My prayer for the donors is that all they request from God shall be given to them. I also pray to become a donor too by God’s grace”.
