The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) has distributed two bags of rice each to about 3,000 indigent widows in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Speaking during the distribution, Founder, SEOF, Sir Emeka Offor, described the humanitarian intervention as one of the foundation’s ways of restoring dignity and hope to those in need.
He said: “Sir Emeka Offor Foundation believes that we do not need to have everything before we can make a difference in the life of another person. Sometimes, what may appear modest to us can mean a great deal to a family in need.
“This is our modest contribution towards supporting our widows and ensuring they, too, can share in the joy and spirit of this season, particularly as we have celebrated the Afiolu Festival.
“Afiolu is more than a festival. It is a celebration of our heritage, culture, and the bonds that unite us as a people. It is fitting at such occasions that we also remember those who may not have the means to celebrate as they would wish and lend support.
“For us, humanitarian intervention is about putting people first, recognising vulnerability, responding where we can, and restoring dignity and hope to those who need it. To our beneficiaries, this gesture comes with love and genuine concern. We consider you an important part of our community and are pleased to share this moment with you.”
Offor called for stiffer sanctions on oppressors of vulnerable communities, particularly widows and vowed to battle those who indulge in subjugating or dispossessing widows of their property.

“Sir Emeka Offor Foundation has a lot of support packages for diverse people, but the one that is most dear to me is the quarterly distribution of rice to widows.
“This is why I say people must never joke with widows because if I ever hear that anyone abused or dispossessed them of their belongings, we will fight it. We will hire lawyers, of course, we already have them and we will use any means that is lawful to ensure that such acts don’t stand.
“Four times every year, I ensure widows in Oraifite get rice from our foundation. We have built several houses for widows, and this year we are giving out additional 20 bungalows to widows,” he said.
Chairman of the foundation, Tony Obi, said the benefactor was passionate about ensuring welfare of widows in the community and called for prayers for him.
“Sir Emeka Offor has revealed to me that since he commenced this exercise, he feels more fulfilled, and thinks it’s a better thing to do than to sponsor politicians to public offices, which he has been doing,” he said.
President General of the Ozubulu Community, Vin Dike, described the foundation as one of the biggest foundations in Nigeria, adding that it has carved a niche for itself by targeting the vulnerable population, especially widows for support.
“Sir Emeka Offor has done a lot in this community, especially in road construction, educational scholarships, building for widows, health and medical assistance, and the total welfare of Oraifite,” he added.
