The Olusegun Elijah Olasunkanmi Foundation has distributed 10,000 exercise books to students of Iwo Grammar School, Osun State, as part of efforts to support public education and reduce the financial burden on parents.
The 40-leaf exercise books were presented to the students at the school in Iwo Local Government Area under the foundation’s recurring initiative to provide learning materials at the beginning of school terms.
Secretary of the foundation, Ifeolu Adegbenle, who spoke on behalf of the founder, said the intervention was designed to complement government efforts in education and ensure that lack of basic learning materials did not hinder students.
She encouraged the beneficiaries not to consider attending a public school a limitation to their aspirations, citing the educational journey of the foundation’s founder.
“Our founder began his educational journey in a public school before achieving great heights in his career. He understands the critical role education plays and has always prioritised supporting it,” Adegbenle said. She urged the students to take their studies seriously, make use of available opportunities and see education as a pathway to achieving their aspirations.
Adegbenle also commended teachers of the school for their contribution to the academic and moral development of the students.
Another member of the foundation, Timothy Oyedokun, advised the students to remain focused on their education and avoid violence and other activities capable of jeopardising their future.
Principal of Iwo Grammar School, Aderonke Adesingbin, thanked the foundation for the intervention, saying the books would support teaching and learning in the school.
Student representatives, Rasheed Abeeb and Rofiat Azeez, also expressed appreciation to the foundation and promised that the materials would be put to good use.
