The FC Trust Foundation has paid the medical bills of no fewer than 40 patients at two major hospitals in Enugu State.
The beneficiaries were patients receiving treatment at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, and the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUT), Parklane, Enugu.
The intervention, according to the foundation, was aimed at supporting indigent patients who were unable to settle their medical bills and faced uncertainty over their discharge.
The foundation’s team visited the hospitals and settled the bills of several patients in full, enabling some of them to leave the hospitals after completing their treatment.
Speaking on the intervention, the Chairman of the foundation, Francis Chukwu, said the foundation was established to support vulnerable people and provide practical assistance to those in need.
“We are committed to supporting people who are going through difficult times and may not have the means to meet their immediate needs,” he said.
He added that the foundation would continue to identify areas where its interventions could make a meaningful difference in the lives of less privileged people. The intervention brought relief to the beneficiaries and their families, with some of the patients expressing gratitude to the foundation for the assistance.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chiamaka Ogbodo, said: “We are grateful for this support. Being unable to pay the bill was a heavy burden, but this intervention has given us relief.”
Medical personnel at the hospitals also commended the initiative, saying support of this nature could help ease the burden on patients struggling with the cost of healthcare.
