Former Super Eagles striker Eneramo collapses, dies during match

Former Super Eagles forward Michael Eneramo has died after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.

Eneramo, 40, was playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the television area of Kaduna when the tragic incident occurred on Friday.

He reportedly came on as a second-half substitute before suddenly collapsing without any contact from another player.

“He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful,” a source said.

The former Nigeria international was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Eneramo enjoyed a distinguished career, featuring for clubs including Beşiktaş J.K., Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Lobi Stars F.C..

Following his retirement from professional football, he dedicated his time to nurturing young talents through his football academy.

Reacting to his death, the official Super Eagles account posted a simple tribute: “Rest in peace Michael.”
