A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, has formally resigned her membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing an end to over two decades of political association with the party.

In a resignation letter dated Monday, March 30, 2026, and addressed to her ward chairman in Ward 1, Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State, Akinjide stated that her decision takes immediate effect.

The letter, which was made available to party officials, indicated that her exit followed a prolonged period of personal reflection. She noted that the decision was difficult, considering her long-standing relationship with the PDP, having joined the party in 2001.

“I hereby formally give you notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” the letter read.

Akinjide expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it provided her over the years, particularly in terms of political engagement and public service. She also acknowledged the relationships she built during her time within the PDP.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a member of the party and the experiences and relationships built during my time as a member,” she stated.
