Members of the National Forum of Former Legislators, comprising former senators, members of the House of Representatives, state assemblies, and councillors, have passed a vote of confidence on the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for his commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the fight against banditry through non-kinetic approaches.
Speaking during a solidarity visit to the minister, the National Coordinator of the Forum, Rt Hon. Nnanna Igbokwe, said the delegation visited in support of their colleague, Dr Matawalle, who was a former member and principal officer of the House of Representatives before serving as Governor of Zamfara State.
Also speaking, Rt Hon. Babangida SM Nguroje, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and a member of the Forum’s Board of Trustees, said Dr Matawalle was being unfairly attacked by opposition elements who see him as a political threat ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Honourable Minister, you are doing well in your area of assignment, and Nigerians expect even more from you.
“Do not relent in defending Nigeria with your knowledge and experience.
