Former Senator representing Katsina South, Bello Mandiya, has died at the age of 62.
Mandiya died on Monday, September 7, 2026, according to a statement by Ibrahim Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda.
Radda expressed shock and sadness over the death, describing Mandiya’s passing as a major loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.
“I received with shock and deep sadness the news of the death of Senator Bello Mandiya. His passing is a great loss to Katsina State and Nigeria,” the governor said.
The governor described Mandiya as a committed public servant whose career spanned both state and federal responsibilities.
Before his election to the Senate, Mandiya served as Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
He was elected in 2019 to represent Katsina South in the Senate and served until 2023.
“Senator Mandiya dedicated part of his life to public service and served our people with commitment. His contributions will remain remembered,” Radda said.
Radda also condoled with Mandiya’s family, Masari, the people of Katsina South, his political associates and friends, as well as his former colleagues in the ninth Senate.
“His experience and service at both the state and federal levels remain part of his legacy,” the governor added.
Radda prayed for the repose of Mandiya’s soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
