There is no gainsaying that Dr. Maureen Piribonemi Tamuno has powerful, influential, high wired connections with friends across the four corners of the country. Perhaps, if you ever think of compiling a list of Nigerians who deserve commendations for their love for unity of Nigeria, Tamuno, former Nigerian Ambassador to Jamaica and now the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investments Company Limited will certainly make the list with a generous mention.
The Rivers State-born woman has the paint of rainbow in her heart as she in the past displayed her nationalistic nature and love for fellow human beings irrespective of where the person hails from. The highly cerebral former diplomat considers every Nigerian as one. She holds the unity of the country paramount to her heart. Aside from that, Tamuno’s journey in politics exemplifies her dedication to empowering women and promoting their active participation in governance. She has shattered barriers and assumed roles traditionally dominated by men, paving the way for other women to follow. This has been one of the things working for her and her rising profile.
For her evident character —which has made her succeed as a brilliant public administrator with astute business ideas that has placed Abuja Investment Company in the minds of many within her short time as its boss— she has been getting recognitions and honours from different parts of the country. The recent is coming from the historic town of Owo in Ondo State where Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo and paramount ruler of the Owo Kingdom is set to confer on Tamuno the traditional title of Yeye Folagboyero of Owo Kingdom. Her investiture has been slated for Saturday, 21 December 2024 at the royal courtyard of His Imperial Majesty in Owo.
Sources from the Olowo Palace revealed that Tamuno’s recognition was as a result of her love and passion for the progress of Owo Kingdom as shown in her character while Oba Ogunoye is looking further for her to make a positive impact on the development of Owo people. The title is also to encourage her to keep the unity of Nigeria burning in her heart. The chieftaincy ceremony has been designed to attract an assemblage of crème of Nigeria social establishment from across the nation.
