Two foreign dogs on Wednesday caused unrest at Haleluyah Estate, Osogbo, Osun State, as they seized a 5-month-old girl from her mother’s back and ate her up.
The incident caused restlessness in the area as residents scampered for safety when the dogs escaped from the building.
A resident of the area who spoke to Daily Sun explained that the dogs yanked out from a building in the area and pulled the baby from her mother’s back.
He explained that the dogs ate the baby ferociously while the mother was helpless.
According to the source, the woman was going on her own when the dogs escaped from the building and jumped on the woman.
“The two foreign dogs came out from a completed but not inhabited building. They seized the baby from the woman’s back and ate the baby.
“The woman was struggling while they were eating the baby. They descended on the woman after eating up the baby. They have injured the woman before she was rescued by the people,” sources said.
The spokesperson of the Osun police command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
She said the 5-month-old girl did not survive but efforts are on to arrest the owner of the dogs.
