In appreciation of her role in moulding their character and humanness, Ms. Folake Soetan, the Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric Plc and her siblings pulled all the stops to give their late mother, Madam Kofoworola Olufunmilayo Falegan, a befitting burial last week. The deceased, who died at the age of 78 on 29 May, 2024, was honoured by her family with a unique three-day burial ceremony tagged ‘Celebration of Life’. It started with a service of songs and wake held on 22 and 23 July 2024 respectively. This set the stage for an extravagant commemoration on Friday 26 July starting with a funeral service at the Yaba Baptist Church, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos. The facilitating and lead minister, Bayo Aremu delivered the sermon. The biography of the deceased was read to all after which there were thanksgiving and prayer sessions. It was followed immediately by a private interment with only close family members.
There was a lavish reception at the Harbour Point Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos where guests were treated to good food, choice drinks and quality entertainment. Quite a number of prominent Nigerians, including Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu attended the wake, the burial service and the reception. These individuals’ presence despite their busy schedule and other commitments is not only a testament to Folake’s endearing nature but also because of the rapid transformation she has made possible since climbing the saddle as Ikeja Electric Plc CEO, where she has orchestrated some of the most significant commercial turnarounds in the industry.
