INTRODUCTION
Beloved, welcome to another exciting time of sharing and learning from God’s Word through this platform. In this new series, I want us to consider the truth that God has a future, a glorious and blessed one, for you; and your capacity and responsibility to participate in and contribute to shaping that glorious future.
GOD HAS PLANS FOR YOU.
God has a great plan for your life. The plan of God is not limited to just taking care of your present struggles. His plan includes helping you conceive, contribute to and secure a glorious future. In the Bible book of Jeremiah 29:11, He says “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out–plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Do you see that God doesn’t want you to be all by yourself struggling without Him? I also want you to see that though God has plans for your future, He’s not doing it without your involvement. He said in the scripture quoted “…plans to give you the future YOU HOPE FOR.” Therefore, it is the future you can conceive and contribute to that God eventually delivers to you. When your conception and contributions align with the plan of God for you, then your future turns out the very glorious one that God has always had in mind for you.
The plan of God is that your present circumstances will eventually contribute in helping you achieve your glorious future. In 2 COR. 4:17, the scripture says “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory;” Whatever you’re experiencing right now is temporal and working out in you and for you something weighty. They will all lead to your settlement according to 1 PETER 5:10 “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].”
YOU’VE GOT HUGE CAPACITY
Man is a product of a well thought out design and purpose by God. We are wired with great, unimaginable capabilities. The energy in us is amazing. The failure of many lives is not actually as a result of shortage of energy to produce a different outcome. Rather, many people fail because they fail to concentrate their vast energy on the things that matter and in the right direction. The challenge today is to focus our energy where it matters most, the future. Energy is defined as the strength and vitality required for sustained physical and mental activity. Energy is synonym of: Vitality, Vigor, Life, Enthusiasm, Fire, Passion, Zeal, Zest. These capabilities are in you. The question is how are you harnessing them, are you concentrating your vigor, passion, zest etc on the past or on the future?
In fact, it is very significant to understand that God in His wisdom has not left anyone empty. God in His multidimensional sufficiency has deposited in everyone what is required to initiate the process of change and or recovery, no matter what the situation may be. The challenge for anyone in a dire situation is to understand that God has not left him or her with nothing. You have to train your eyes to identify what it is that is within you that is the key to your transformation and new beginning. This can be very difficult for a lot of people whose eyes have been trained only to observe and identify what is missing in their lives. This perspective has to change. If you’re going to live in the glorious future that God designed for you, you must stop seeing or focusing on what is missing in your life. Start seeing your new beginning. Start seeing your potentials. As long as you can identify something that you still have in spite of the many things seemingly missing in your life, there’s the possibility of a turnaround.
In 2 Kings 4:1-7, is the story of a Prophet’s widow who was in a dire financial situation. Her family’s indebtedness placed her at risk of losing her two sons to slavery.
2 Kings 4:1-7 “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, [even] empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought [the vessels] to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, [There is] not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.”
DECISION TIME
The best gift of life is time. The best gift of time is now. The best use of now is the decision to secure and prepare for eternity. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, please don’t let this moment pass you. You’re just a decision away from a secured eternity. You can pray this prayer to surrender to Jesus: “Lord Jesus, I believe you died for me. I accept you into my life as my Saviour and Lord. Forgive my sins and give me power to live for you the rest of my life on earth”. Amen. Congratulations! If you have prayed this prayer, you are now born again. You can contact us to let us know about your decision or visit us at the address above to learn more on how to grow in your Christian life. God bless you.
