He expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s performance but acknowledged that there is room for improvement.
His words: “The hospital staffs are doing well. But of course, there’s room for improvement, and we’ll channel all our finding challenges to the Chief of the Naval Staff for prompt response.”
Key issues identified included: rising operational costs and unreliable power supply, which he said that the authorities of the force are working to explore alternative energy sources such as solar and inverters to address the power issue.
The FOC said that a healthy workforce is crucial for the Navy to discharge its responsibilities effectively, hence the need to ensure that hospital is in good shape.
Commenting on the Naval Air Base, the officer commended the Navy’s efforts under current constraints, noting that, “It’s not about whether things are right or wrong. The Navy is trying its best with the resources available,”
Regarding conditions in Navy Town, Admiral Oamen affirmed that improvements are ongoing, adding that, “Navy Town is alright, but there’s always more we can do to enhance the living environment and boost morale. A conducive and livable barracks is essential for personnel to perform their duties happily and efficiently.”
He reiterated that all efforts align with the Chief of Naval Staff’s directive to prioritize personnel welfare, pointing out that,”The welfare of his men is paramount, and all commands are charged to maintain high morale.
