7 Akwa Ibom Reps dump opposition for APC

Seven members of the House of Representatives from Akwa Ibom State have defected from the opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Young Progressives Party (YPP), announced their defection through separate letters to the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, at Thursday’s plenary.

The defecting lawmakers are Unyime Idem, Martins Esin, Paul Ekpo, Uduak Alphonsus, Okpolupm Etteh, Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, and Mark Esset.

The exit of the Akwa Ibom lawmakers follows the defection of the Akwa Ibom governor, Umo Eno, from PDP to the ruling party.
