Flying Eagles coach, Aliyu Zubairu has said he has a good idea of today’s U20 AFCON semifinal foes South Africa, just as he has declared his team is now gunning for the trophy after securing a place at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
Coach Zubairu disclosed he and his assistants stayed back to watch the quarterfinal between South Africa and DR Congo and as such they have a good idea of the team who now stand between them and the championship final.
“I was at the stadium and watched South Africa against DR Congo,” he said.
“We therefore have a good idea of how they play.
“They’re a good side, but we hope to neutralise their strengths and capitalise on their weaknesses.”
He further said his team is now much more relaxed after qualifying for the World Cup and as such would aim to reach the full potentials beginning with today’s semifinal.
“We will do everything to bring the trophy back home,” he declared.
“We’re going fully for the trophy after we secured our place at the World Cup.”
Nigeria is the most successful team in Africa at U20 level having won the tournament a record seven times.
