Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has praised Karim Adeyemi after the German forward impressed in the club’s 7-2 victory over Racing Santander, saying he still has room to improve as he adapts to the team’s style of play.
Adeyemi was involved in another strong Barcelona performance as Flick’s side extended their perfect start to the season with a seventh consecutive competitive victory at Spotify Camp Nou. Barcelona’s official website confirmed the result gave the club their best-ever start to a season.
Flick believes Adeyemi is still adjusting to Barcelona’s demands but said the forward is already making a significant contribution to the team.
“He can improve and still needs to fully adapt to our way of playing, but he gives us a lot, as we saw today. I’m happy for him and I like what I see,” Flick said.
The German coach also highlighted Adeyemi’s character and attacking threat, describing him as a player who gives everything on the pitch and whose pace can provide Barcelona with another dimension in attack.
“He’s a fun player and a good guy who gives everything on the pitch. His pace is incredible,” Flick added.
Adeyemi has already made his mark during Barcelona’s impressive opening run, scoring in the 4-2 victory over Levante before featuring in the 7-2 demolition of Racing Santander.
Flick’s comments suggest the 24-year-old remains a work in progress within Barcelona’s system, with the coach focusing on his adaptation while recognising the attacking qualities he brings to the squad.
Barcelona’s victory over Racing also extended Flick’s remarkable start, with the club winning their first seven competitive matches of the campaign. The manager, however, warned that the next challenge against Sevilla on Saturday would be difficult.
