Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) has nominated 22 justices of the Court of Appeal for appointment as Supreme Court justices.

The Supreme Courtj which is in dearth of justices on its benchj presently has only 11 serving justices after the retirement of Amina Augie.

Amina had retired from the bench, having clocked the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Already, the list containing the names of the nominees has been sent to the National Judicial Council (NJC).

The names of the nominees, who hail from various regions in the country, showed that the North Central region has six nominees, while the South West and South South regions have two nominees each.

The list has Nwaoma Uwa (Abia State-Priority 1A); Onyekachi Otisi (Abia State-Reserve); Obande Ogbuinya (Ebonyi State)-Priority 2A); Theresa Orji-Abadua (Imo State- Reserve 3); Anthony Ogakwu (Enugu State-Priority 3A); Chioma Nwosu-lheme (Imo State)-Reserve, all from the South East.

From the South South are, Moore Adumein (Bayelsa State-Priority 1A); Biobele Georgewill (Rivers State)-Reserve

The South West has Adewale Abiru (Lagos State-Priority 1A) and Olubunmi Oyewole (Osun State-Reserve)

The North Central has Jummai Sankey (Plateau State)-Priority 1A); Muhammad Ibrahim Sirajo (Plateau-Reserve 2); Stephen Adah (Kogi State-Priority 2A); Ridman Maiwada Abdullahi (Nassarawa State -Reserve 3); Baba Idris (Niger State-Priority 3A); Joseph Ikyegh (Benue State-Reserve.

From the North East are, Haruna Simon Tsammani (Bauchi State-Priority 1A) and Abubakar Talba (Adamawa State).
