Five killed as bomb blast rocks Maiduguri mosque

Five persons have been confirmed killed as a bomb ripped through a packed mosque in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital Wednesday evening.

The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nahum Daso confirmed this in a statement.

The police spokesman said at least 35 people were injured in the blast that occurred during prayers at the mosque located in Gamboru market, Maiduguri.

A video that circulated on social media purportedly shows the aftermath of the incident, with people milling around as dust particles rent the atmosphere.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
