FirstBank has expanded its investment in Nigeria’s creative industry through the sponsorship of Prideland 3: The Return of King Baffa, the final instalment of the acclaimed Prideland musical trilogy staged at Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos.
The production was part of the Theatre @ Eko series, which also featured stage plays including The Jewel and Mary as part of the hotel’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
The final instalment of the trilogy follows Princess Zara, whose decision to free her imprisoned uncle, Baffa, throws the kingdom into crisis. After seizing the throne and imprisoning Queen Farrah, Baffa forces Zara to embrace her destiny as a leader. With the support of the kingdom’s general, she fights to reclaim the throne. The story ends with Baffa and his son destroying each other, clearing the way for Zara’s coronation as queen.

Blending music, dance, elaborate costumes and African folklore, the production explored themes of leadership, sacrifice, family, love and redemption while celebrating African culture and storytelling.

The initiative provides a platform for creative talents to showcase their work while expanding public access to quality artistic productions.
