A new beach resort is set to open in Lagos today, January 18. The resort, Iceland Beach Resort, located at Okun-Ajah, off Ogombo Road, Ajah, Lagos is a beach hideaway for artists in the creative industry to stay and engage in creative work. The managing director of the resort, Mr. Emmanuel Akapo, is a familiar face within the music and creative circle in Nigeria, being the proprietor of Nigeria’s biggest private music institute, Tenstrings Music Institute. Akapo said the idea was to have a place by the beach and ocean dedicated to pure artistic creativity in different areas be it music, writing, painting and so on.
He continued: “I always dreamt of a space for the creative community, away from the hustle and bustles of the city centre, a place where you can retreat for an entire day or several days to create and recreate. Iceland beach Resort is the first private beach resort designed and dedicated for people.
“As a creative myself, I understand that an enabling and inspiring environment is crucial for the quality of your creativity.”
Akapo said the beach resort boasts of a clean beach overlooking the ocean with bed and stretcher cabanas. From the beachfront, visitors have a clear view of the ocean and could relax in an idyllic setting.
The beach resort also has a two-storey accommodation facility for those wishing to spend a night or more.
A special feature of the Ice beach is an indoor creative lounge for bands’ rehearsal facilities for music groups and choirs to rehearse. There is also a well-maintained swimming pool.
