First Lady of Nigeria Oluremi Tinubu, yesterday visited the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, to thank him for his sustained counsel and support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at the palace, according to a statement by Busola Kukoyi, her media aide, Mrs. Tinubu described the long-standing relationship between their families and praised the Sultan for “always pointing the administration in the right direction.”
She said the visit was primarily “to thank the Sultan,” noting his continued guidance since the current administration’s inception.

In his remarks, the Sultan stressed the need for spiritual intervention in the nation’s fight against criminality and moral decay. “As leaders, there is a need to keep seeking divine intervention especially for those groups of people who have been perpetrating evil in the land,” he said, adding, “My prayer is that those people would come to true repentance and live appropriately.”
The Sultan also commended the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), saying its programmes “have touched the lives of millions of Nigerians.”
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, who joined the First Lady on the visit, echoed the Sultan’s praise. He thanked Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her trip to the palace and described the RHI interventions as “people-centred, aimed at improving the lives of women, youth, children and families in general.”
At the close of the meeting, the Sultan asked the Ulama to lead prayers for the nation, the President, the First Lady, the state governor, himself and Sokoto State as a whole.
