Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Wednesday joined First Ladies from 44 countries at the “Fostering the Future Together” Summit hosted by United States First Lady, Melania Trump, at the White House in Washington DC.
The historic has been described as the largest international gathering of its kind hosted by a U.S. First Lady at the White House in a single day.
The high-level gathering, held on March 25, 2026, brought together spouses of world leaders to deliberate on collaborative approaches to securing a better future for children and young people across the globe. The summit focused on shared priorities such as education, child protection, health, and youth empowerment.
In her opening remarks Tuesday, the United States First Lady urged global collaboration: “As people we dream. As leaders we progress. As nations we will build.” She added, “Beginning today, let’s accelerate our new global alliance, this bond, to positively impact the progress of our children.”

Trump called on participants to host regional meetings, conduct research, forge partnerships and collaborate across nations “to cultivate the skills young people need to be successful in this rapidly evolving world.”
She outlined goals including innovative programmes, supportive education policies, tech-focused legislation and public-private partnerships, declaring, “This room is filled with extraordinary human capital.” She urged leaders to “harness it to elevate your children, to empower your people and to accelerate your economies.”
The gathering included First Ladies from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, alongside tech giants like Microsoft, Google and OpenAI. Closed-door sessions covered AI in education, edtech tools, digital literacy and online safety.
Mrs Trump had launched the Fostering the Future Together initiative at last UN General Assembly, stating that the global coalition’s mission is “to ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era.”
