First Bank introduces humanoid robot to Ibadan, UI for banking services

Thousands of students, lecturers and non-academic staff of the University of Ibadan, and other critical stakeholders, have been given the opportunity to interact with Humanoid Robot, equipped with video banking and artificial intelligence to carry out banking services without human interaction.

It was gathered that Humanoid Robot can respond to customer inquiries on deposits, withdrawals, and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, manage complaints, and keep customers informed about the bank’s latest products and upgrades.

The robot was launched in Ibadan during the week by the First Bank of Nigeria, as part of its fully automated centre, FirstBank Digital Xperience Centre, which aims to revolutionise banking services in the country by using biometric technology to enhance security, reduce fraud, and eliminate issues related to incorrect counting of money.

The Group Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, revealed in an interview with newsmen at the inauguration, noted that the centre marks a significant leap towards revolutionising the banking industry in Nigeria and brings world-class innovative banking services to customers.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor of UI, Prof Kayode Adebowale, and the Group Executive for Technology, Digital Innovation, and Banking Services of First Bank Nigeria, Callistus Obetta, among other dignitaries.
